Board of Public Works authorizes bid for tree-surety contract to plant and irrigate 200 trees

The Board of Public Works voted Oct. 21 to authorize staff to solicit bids for Contract 24-15, a tree-surety project to install and irrigate 200 trees across the city.
Parks staff (Mike, Speaker 5) said the work would include 23 trees for a Westminster development on the west side, 50 trees under the free street-tree program and replacements from reconstruction projects, and 27 trees to be planted in various parks. He estimated a pre-bid cost of $78,525 (including a 5% contingency) and said funding would come from the tree surety budget for development trees and from capital carryforward, operational funds and urban forestry grants for the remainder.
The board moved and approved the permission to bid by voice vote. Staff will proceed to advertise the procurement and return with bids and award recommendations as required.
