Sheriff reports 19 inmates; burn ban left in place
Summary

At the Feb. 24 commissioners meeting the sheriff reported the jail is currently holding 19 inmates placed among nearby counties: portions at Callahan, Coleman, Shackleford and Taylor counties.
The sheriff also reported staffing shortfalls — one vacancy in dispatch and one in patrol — and overtime totals of about 29 hours for dispatch and 21.75 hours for deputies. Commissioners accepted the report by voice vote.
On the county burn ban, the sheriff and commissioners said conditions remain dry and opted to keep the burn ban in place. Commissioners noted the administrative review cycle is every 90 days and that the last action on the ban occurred in January.
