Medina—s finance committee discussed an anticipated water-rate announcement from the city—s supplier and asked staff to prepare for timely review and public notice.
Speaker 7 told the committee the supplier typically holds a meeting in mid-May and is required to provide six months' notice; based on that schedule, any increase announced May 15 would likely be effective Jan. 1, 2026. "They are required to give us 6 months notice," Speaker 7 said, and recommended routing the provider—s increase to the city—s utility-rate-review process in late May to allow the city to give residents and businesses maximum advance notice.
Committee members noted that historically the supplier has sometimes provided multi-year notice of planned increases and that the city generally passes through supplier increases rather than absorbing the costs. No formal action was taken; staff will monitor the supplier meeting and prepare materials for utility-rate review if an increase is announced.
