Smithfield Zoning Board continues two cases, approves minutes and safety notice

At its Sept. 4 meeting the Smithfield Zoning Board of Review continued two cases to Oct. 2, approved its Aug. 7 minutes (one member abstaining), and read emergency evacuation procedures for the public.
The Smithfield Zoning Board of Review convened Sept. 4 and voted to continue two agenda items to the board's Oct. 2 meeting after attorneys requested postponements. Donna Guerrero, the zoning board clerk, said attorney Timothy Kane asked that case 23-012 (Sun Builders) be continued to Oct. 2 and attorney Joe Shikachi requested a postponement of case 24-013 (CGRI Greenville LLC, 473 Putnam Pike) to allow the applicant more time to collect information and study Smithfield's code.
Chairman Jim Busman called for a motion and the board voted to grant the continuances. Guerrero told any attendees for those two matters that the notices constituted formal continuance to the Oct. 2 meeting.
The board also moved to approve minutes from its Aug. 7 meeting. Busman asked whether members had reviewed the minutes; the motion passed with the recorded vote of 'Aye' from present members. Linda Marcello did not vote because she was not present for the Aug. 7 meeting.
Clerk Guerrero read the meeting's emergency evacuation and health notification, including exits and a note not to use the elevator in an emergency. The board then proceeded to hear remaining cases on the agenda.
