Applicant Katarina Levy told the board she has 21 years of experience in cheerleading and military service, and said the proposed 1,250-square-foot space would be used for training for children and teens, provide job opportunities for coaches and staff, and serve as a community hub. Levy said typical sessions would run after school, roughly 5–8 p.m. Monday through Thursday with possible Saturday morning programming, and she expects no large spectator events because the rented space is small.
Board members asked about capacity (Levy estimated 15–20 students at a time), square footage (1,250 sq ft), parking arrangements and the tenant mix (the facility would be one of eight tenants in the building). Planning staff noted the proposed use falls within the zoning area but requires special-use review because the district is industrial. The board opened the public hearing; no public speakers appeared.
A motion to take the matter under advisement carried. In deliberations the board clarified the facility is identified as a "cheerleading training facility" and moved to approve a use variance at the location; the motion was seconded and the board voiced approval.
