At its Oct. 3 meeting the Fairborn Board of Education processed routine business, acknowledged community contributions, and recognized retiring staff.
Early in the meeting the board nominated a treasurer pro tem to fill in for the ill Treasurer Filo; the nomination of Tim (surname on file) was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The board also moved and seconded to approve the meeting agenda as presented and to approve minutes from the Sept. 5 regular meeting; roll-call votes were recorded and the chair announced motions carried.
In budget and finance business, the board discussed items spanning multiple pages of the agenda (noted through page 12), heard motions and seconds, and completed roll-call voting on the listed finance items. The meeting record shows the board intended to vote on the five-year forecast and took motions related to budget/finance during this portion of the agenda.
The board called attention to a resolution of tribute honoring Roberta Rupp, an intervention specialist retiring after 32 years in education, 16 of them with Fairborn City; members expressed appreciation. The district also publicly acknowledged gifts and donations from multiple community donors, including City Church (food for the Hawks Pantry), Jama Enterprises Inc. ($1,000), Chris and Pam Gayheart ($1,000 for the turf fund), Kirk and Amy Gayheart (five softball helmets), Gospel Outreach and Training Center ($500 for each of two clinics), Stephanie Pietrangelo ($500 turf fund), TCA Graphics ($1,000 turf fund) and John Varner ($1,000 turf fund).
Near the end of the session the chair indicated the board would go into a closed (executive) session.
