The Fort Smith Zoning Board unanimously elected Mister Raposa as chair for a one-year term following the retirement of former chairman Jim Knott. Vice Chair Ben Farrell, acting as chair at the start of the meeting, called for nominations; Mister Raposa was nominated, seconded and approved by the full board.
The board immediately moved to fill the secretary role vacated by the chair’s departure. A motion to appoint Miss Horitz as zoning board secretary was made and seconded; the board approved the nomination by voice vote with all present saying “aye.” The actions were procedural and taken at the beginning of the meeting to allow the board to proceed with its scheduled hearings.
Board members did not attach conditions to the appointments. The meeting continued into hearings on multiple dimensional-variance petitions after the elections.
