The Tallmadge City Council on Nov. 14 adopted Ordinance 2024‑70 to enter into an intergovernmental water‑service agreement with Portage County to serve an annexed portion of the city between Howell Road and Mogador Road (including Crystal Parkway).
Director of Public Service Rohrer explained the logic: the annex area lies closer to Portage County’s pump house, and the arrangement is roughly cost neutral under current charges. “Just makes sense with that being Portage County to serve that by Portage County,” Rohrer said, noting about 50 businesses are in the affected area. Council moved to adopt the ordinance and passed it by roll call 6‑0.
What happens next: Staff will execute the intergovernmental agreement consistent with the ordinance; no fiscal impact beyond previously discussed estimates was identified in the public discussion.
