Jonathan Kavich (119 Hammock Avenue) told the Portsmouth Town Council on Oct. 28 that the Portsmouth Business Association and the Island Park Preservation Society will hold a seawall cleanup in Downtown Island Park on Nov. 9. Kavich asked residents and council members to volunteer; organizers will meet at Boys Lane at 9:00 a.m., split into teams and collect weeds and debris.
Kavich said local businesses have offered support: Ace will donate trash bags and public-works staff will help collect materials the day after the event. He also said volunteers plan to use a nontoxic weed killer after removing vegetation.
Council members thanked Kavich and said they would try to accommodate participation and promotion.
