The Tiverton Town Council accepted the resignation of Town Administrator Christopher Carter and authorized funds to advertise for his replacement, councilors said during the Oct. 9 meeting.
Councilors thanked Carter for his service and discussed advertisement details. The council directed staff to list the salary as negotiable in recruitment materials so the town can attract competitive applicants, and asked staff to update the existing advertisement with current expectations.
Members noted December is a difficult month to recruit and discussed the possibility of an interim administrator if a suitable candidate is not found. The council discussed a tentative Dec. 3 final date for Carter but said the exact departure date would be confirmed and that he may remain longer if needed to effect a transition.
Councilors also authorized advertising funds and asked to review the posting and any candidate specifications before final release.
