The Tiverton Town Council voted to ratify a three‑year contract with IAFF Local 1703, the town’s firefighters’ union, that the council said will take effect in June 2025 and run through June 2028. Council members moved the ratification forward from general business and approved the contract during the Oct. 9 meeting.
Council members said the agreement and the town’s fiscal impact statement have been posted on the town website. “Contract will begin June 2025 and end June 2028,” the presiding councilor said during the motion to approve the agreement. Councilors also said the red‑line version and tentative agreements were posted since Friday for public review.
Nick Baboz, identified at the meeting as president of the firefighters’ union, attended the meeting after the vote and accepted public thanks from the council. Council leadership thanked the negotiating team and described the process as difficult at times but ultimately productive.
The council did not record roll‑call vote totals by name on the meeting transcript but announced the motion carried. The council said copies of the contract, the fiscal impact statement and the red‑line version are available on the town website for residents who want details.
