Town officials say Greystone and Wayland school projects are on schedule; construction documents near completion

Philip Conte, representing Left Field Project Management, updated the Town Council on school construction projects including an addition at the high school and an auditorium renovation. Conte said those projects are on schedule, under or near budget, and that two larger projects—new Wayland and Greystone elementary schools—are finalizing construction documents and will go out for subcontractor pricing after documents are completed. Conte said value-engineering reduced some scope related to aesthetics and site improvements without cutting educational programmatic spaces.
Conte said the team had coordinated with the fire and police departments on site and building plans and was proceeding to secure necessary permits for projects larger than an acre. He noted work to maintain safe egress during construction and said the district expects to deliver substantially new elementary school facilities by project completion. Council scheduled a special meeting so members could see a fuller presentation and asked the project team to return with more detailed drawings and cost estimates.
