At its Sept. 9 meeting, the East Greenwich Town Council approved a series of local liquor‑license actions, moving several business ownership changes and one permanent service‑area expansion toward completion.
The council authorized a 30‑day 'granted but not issued' transfer for the Wayside Grill (5702 Post Road) to Ocean Breeze Cuisine LLC, introduced by attorney David D’Agostino on behalf of owner Amy Kine. The town clerk reported a single written objection tied to an outstanding debt of roughly $275.18; the council approved the 30‑day authorization 4–0 subject to completion of required state and local clearances.
The council also approved a 30‑day granted‑but‑not‑issued transfer for Cathay Garden (363 Main Street) from Lao Enterprises to Wu Enterprises and a transfer for the Jersey Mike’s location at 537 Main Street to East Greenwich Juice LLC; both votes were unanimous, contingent on standard state division of taxation clearances and required inspections.
Separately, EG Restaurant Holdings (Sport and Leisure EG) requested permanent expansion of service area (an additional eight seats on a private deck, increasing total capacity to 73) and regular business hours to accommodate evening sporting events. The clerk confirmed the outdoor seats are on private property (not the public sidewalk) and the council discussed parking, a valet agreement and neighborhood comments. After hearing from the applicant’s representative, Kelly Morris Salvatore, the council approved the expansion, noting conditions related to parking arrangements and that the applicant must coordinate any valet lease or zoning requirements as needed.
Town Clerk Lee Carney told the council that final approval for all transfers remains subject to state tax clearance and sign‑offs from zoning, building and the fire marshal, and that the 'granted but not issued' status gives applicants time to complete those items and be included in the upcoming renewal process.
