Resident Lehi Calderon gave detailed testimony about persistent basement sewage backups after heavy rain, saying the town previously installed a check/backflow valve that "no longer works" and that sanitary sewer water has repeatedly invaded his cellar. Calderon described submersible pumps and lifted fixtures in his basement and said the problem has persisted for 22 years at his address.
Councilmembers noted previous Public Safety Committee work and said staff would be asked to inspect the site, take photographs and discuss possible mitigation. The council voted to send both the speeding and drainage complaints to the Public Safety Committee for follow-up; officials said excavation or infrastructure repairs are unlikely before the end of the fiscal year but that staff will re-evaluate and report back.
The referral initiated committee-level follow-up; the council did not approve a specific capital repair or funding commitment at the meeting.
