Coventry ceremonially swears in newly elected school committee members

Jacovone was sworn in for the townwide school committee seat by Representative Chippendale. Cody J. Rydell was sworn in for a townwide seat by Senator Raphtakis. Each took the oath and responded, "I do."
Perillo led applause for the newly sworn members and turned the meeting over to Town Clerk Joanne Amatrano to call the subsequent Town Council meeting to order. The ceremony combined musical honors, the pledge of allegiance, and short remarks before the council’s organizational business.
The ceremonial swearing followed the formal, charter-required administration of oaths by the town clerk and did not itself change the legal status of the officials, Perillo said. The council proceeded immediately to organizational votes.
