West Chester Township receives Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction

The West Chester Township Board of Trustees accepted the Ohio Auditor of State Award with Distinction during its Dec. 17, 2024 regular meeting, a recognition presented to local governments that complete a timely GAAP-based annual comprehensive financial report with no findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses or related financial concerns.
"It's my honor to be here," the auditor's representative said while presenting the award on behalf of Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber, noting the office audits nearly 6,000 entities and fewer than 4% qualify for the distinction. The representative read the award criteria and credited township staff for meeting each requirement.
Trustees and staff identified Bruce Jones, the township’s fiscal officer, and finance director Ken Kime by name during remarks and thanked them for the work that produced the clean audit. Township officials said Kime worked extra hours late in the process to provide requested records and avoid disqualification.
The recognition, officials said, reflects routine financial controls such as timely annual filings, reconciliations and the absence of significant internal control deficiencies. The board applauded the finance team before moving on to personnel and other agenda items.
The trustees did not take additional action tied to the award during the meeting. The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Jan. 14, 2025.
