Board hears facilities update on failing 6,000-gallon fuel tank; administration to seek noncompetitive purchase

Staff said several controllers and parts remain serviceable but the specific controller needed for the tank's size and integration with the existing system is available from only a small set of manufacturers.
Because most available systems would not operate with the district's existing equipment, staff said they will ask the board to authorize buying the compatible controller without going out to bid. The business manager said the board would receive a message the next day notifying members of the intended noncompetitive purchase.
Facilities staff described multiple vendor visits over the past weeks and said the system's condition has continued to deteriorate; they asked the board for understanding that a single-source procurement may be warranted to maintain safe operation of district equipment.
Board members had no further questions during the update and the meeting moved to other business.
