Committee approves Boxhorn dredging contract award; staff says material will be stored on-site following DNR guidance
Summary

The Muskego City Finance Committee voted Nov. 19 to award the contract for the Boxhorn dredging project to the sole bidder, a dredging firm identified in the packet as ILM.
A staff presenter (Scott) explained the work: dredging material from Boxhorn, placing it on-site near the city's Boxhorn storage location, and eventually mixing salvage material with topsoil for future city projects. He said ILM was the only contractor to submit a bid but that the price came in within the capital project estimate. Scott told the committee he had handled permit work to avoid an estimated increase in cost and that sample testing and a Department of Natural Resources (DNR) environmental review would determine acceptable placement.
The staff presentation also noted logistical details: the contractor is currently working locally as a subcontractor on other city projects, and keeping the dredged material on-site avoids higher hauling and landfill costs. Committee members asked about whether the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or the DNR dictate disposal locations; staff clarified DNR is the permitting authority for placement after testing.
The committee approved the bid award by voice vote.
