The Muskego City Finance Committee voted Nov. 19 to approve updated athletic field usage policies and a Park Arthur tournament application while agreeing to monitor pricing for a newly built, larger field.
Committee members moved and seconded the measure and discussed whether to charge the same rate for all fields. One member raised concerns that the newest field is larger and cost more to build, saying the city “deserve[s] to look at it” for potential higher rates. Staff recommended keeping the same rates this season and revisiting pricing for 2026 after observing market demand.
A staff speaker noted recent field revenue, saying, “This year alone, we brought in $65,000 for field use fees on Park Arthur 12, and 3,” and explained that the account helps fund long-term maintenance needs. The committee expressed a desire to maximize return on the investment but agreed to follow staff’s recommendation to evaluate results after one season.
The motion carried by voice vote.
The committee’s next steps are to track bookings and revenue for the upcoming season and report back before any rate changes are adopted.
