"That gives us the power which reduces the risk of injury to the metrics that loads the patient," the chair said when explaining the safety value of powered lifts. The board moved, seconded and approved the stretcher purchase.
The purchases were described as urgent because of recurring issues with older ambulances; the chair said chassis for the two ambulances had already been approved at a prior meeting and the current decisions cover the module and equipment builds but not the chassis. Staff indicated the module builds' 12–14 month lead time begins from order placement.
