MUSKEGO CITY — The Muskego City Library reported a burst in a fire-suppression (sprinkler) pipe that required emergency work and may create an estimated $25,000 operating shortfall for 2024, the library director said at the Oct. 15 library board meeting.
"We were so fortunate it did not happen in the middle of the night," Director Britney said in describing the incident, which staff first noticed as a persistent drip before the pipe failed and emergency contractors installed a temporary saddle. Britney said the permanent repair will likely require cutting out and replacing roughly four feet of pipe and could include overtime charges for the contractor.
