Recreation manager reports strong summer camp and program revenue for 2024

Tammy, Muskego's Recreation Manager, told the Parks and Conservation Committee that recreational programming produced strong participation and revenue this year.

Tammy said the full-summer camp had 181 full-season registrants, with an additional 86 weekly registrations for a total of 267 distinct full- and partial-season participants. She reported the playground program produced a net revenue of about $95,000 and that turf-field activities and tournaments generated roughly $60,000 in revenue. Overall, staff reported $513,000 in recreation-related revenue through Nov. 4, of which approximately $380,000 was attributed to recreation classes.

Tammy also highlighted Idle Isle operations: staff sold 121 season passes and recorded about $17,000 in concession revenue and roughly $35,000 in boat-launch fees; two electronic pay stations have produced about $60,000 to date, with $25,000 identified as parking fees and $35,000 as launch fees. She said those revenues roll back into accounts to offset ranger and concession costs and to build a turf replacement fund.

Tammy described program expansion planned for winter and spring and introduced a new part-time community engagement coordinator, Megan, who will run family events and special activities.

The committee did not vote on budget changes at the meeting; staff said they remain on track to continue building reserves for field replacement.
