Muskego officials say Hill and Veil reconstruction nearly finished; sewer lateral program continues

City staff told the Muskego City Public Works and Safety Committee on Oct. 28 that several infrastructure projects are nearing completion and that planning is underway for next year. Scott, a city staff member reporting on projects, said the Hill and Veil Drive reconstruction is “getting very close to finishing” and that crews intend to place the final surface course on Friday, Nov. 1. Landscaping was expected to be finished by Oct. 29. Remaining work includes shouldering, pavement markings, installing and adjusting signs and restoring mailboxes.

Scott said the 2024 road program wrapped up last week with Lincoln as the last street completed. “All restoration’s done,” he told the committee, and staff are preparing the 2025 road program with an eye to putting the work out to bid around March 2025.

On sanitary‑sewer work, Scott updated the committee on the PPII program conducted through MMSD. The program began with 67 homeowners enrolled; staff completed lateral replacements at 34 properties in fall 2024, four properties dropped out for financial or site reasons, and about 28 properties remain on the list for spring 2025. Scott cautioned that remaining enrollments may not all proceed once crews and homeowners meet in the field.

Item details and next steps: Hill and Veil will require final surface placement and a short list of punch‑list items before a formal project closeout. Road program quantities are in the final payment application stage. The sewer lateral program will continue into spring 2025; timing and final counts depend on homeowner choices and site conditions.
