Board approves consent agenda while director flags leak-detection quote and rising housekeeping costs

The Muskego City Library Board approved the consent agenda, including minutes from the Oct. 15, 2024 meeting and the October financial statements, after trustees questioned several line items and received clarifications from the director.
During discussion, the Library Director said maintenance-of-building expenses are trending above plan and that the library will likely exceed the maintenance line by year-end because of planned repairs. The director reported that Meeting Room 4 had a permanent pipe repair but that additional leaks remain behind walls; a contractor provided a quote of about $1,500 "just to walk around and investigate" the dry-side leak, after which repair costs will be estimated, the director said.
Trustees also noted housekeeping-supplies costs rose, which the director attributed to higher usage (toilet paper in particular) correlated with increased library activity, and discussed the "Library Friends" expense line, which appears to increase expenses on paper but is matched on the revenue side when Friends donations are recorded.
A voice vote recorded all in favor to approve the consent items. The board did not request further action beyond continuing to monitor repair quotes and budget lines; the director said she would continue to press contractors for final repair numbers.
