Pickens County outlines 2025 budget hearings and proposes calendar tweaks to avoid conflicts

"We'll have our first public hearing on the budget on November, where we'll present the full budget, the full packet...That'll be on December [for a second hearing], and then vote on it on December 16," Speaker 1 said, outlining the timeline. She added that the county is working from a worst-case scenario on insurance quotes that remain outstanding but hopes to have final numbers before the November meeting so department heads and commissioners can review line items.
Speaker 1 also presented proposed calendar changes for 2025 to avoid holidays and planning commission conflicts (moving a January meeting to Wednesday, adjusting February meetings due to travel, and canceling the September work session in advance with the option to call a special session if needed). The board will vote on the final calendar at the next meeting.
