Peachtree City council approved a $53,445 change order to repair hidden rot discovered behind exterior walls of the Tennis Center pro shop.
Public works staff explained that during renovation and roof work crews uncovered extensive rot in studs and plywood backing, attributable to older construction practices that lacked modern flashing and waterproofing. Dave Borkowski said the architect and a building specialist recommended removing wall coverings down to the studs, replacing rotten framing and rebuilding the wall covering as the most economical and durable solution.
Borkowski outlined the schedule if approved: contractors would order materials (two to three weeks) and then require roughly four weeks to complete the wall work and return the project to schedule. Councilmember (speaker 23) moved approval and the council voted to carry the motion.
What happens next: With council approval, the contractor will order materials and the repair work will proceed under the approved change order.
