Peachtree City — The Healing Bridge Clinic gave a public presentation July 24 describing its mission, recent growth and plans to expand services for uninsured residents of Fayette and surrounding counties.
Mike Conaway, executive director, said the clinic — located at 215 Willow Bend — serves people who are uninsured and live at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. He provided key metrics: in fiscal 2023 the clinic provided about $1,700,000 of medical care, logged over 1,200 patient visits and roughly 4,800 total patient encounters (including visits, labs and calls). The clinic currently operates roughly 10 hours per week with a staff of four and about 23 local medical providers and additional providers preparing to join.
Conaway thanked local partners — including several rotary clubs, Cooper Lighting (which donated LED fixtures) and local churches — and said the clinic’s strategic plan aims to expand facility hours and services after completing recent renovations. He invited residents to tour the recently renovated space and volunteered contact information and the clinic website (thehealingbridgeclinic.org) for those who want to help or learn more.
Conaway said the clinic began in 2008 as an outreach idea from a First Baptist Church Sunday school class and celebrated its 15th anniversary later this year with a gala. He described community support during a recent rapid renovation that moved the clinic from a circa 1970 building to modern standards in 87 days at or under budget, and credited a local contractor, Misha Construction.
What happens next: The council thanked the presenter. Clinic leaders said they will continue outreach to counties in a six‑county area and seek additional volunteers and funding to extend hours and services.
Quote: "We provide health care at no charge to the uninsured residents of Fayette and surrounding counties who meet our eligibility requirements," Mike Conaway said. "In fiscal 23, we provided $1,700,000 of medical care to the community."
