The Erlanger City Council on Dec. 3 voted to adopt two ordinances on second reading and approved several municipal orders related to appointments and regional representation.
Zoning change: The council adopted a zoning text amendment to add tattoo and body‑art services as a conditional use in the MU (Mixed Use) zone. City Attorney Mr. Gatlin said the Kenton County Planning Commission (KCPC) recommended adoption subject to five conditions, including spacing requirements intended to limit proliferation. "As a conditional use, tattoo parlors are a part of the mixed use zone," Gatlin said, adding that applicants would still need approval from the Board of Adjustments and that the Board could impose regulatory conditions.
Cable franchise: The council also approved an ordinance confirming the sale and awarding a nonexclusive five‑year telecommunications/cable franchise to Cincinnati Bell Extended Territories LLC, doing business as Alta Fiber Connected. The attorney described the action as a housekeeping renewal of the city’s five‑year franchise agreement and said compliance and insurance provisions are included in the attached agreement.
Appointments and representatives: By voice vote the council approved municipal orders reappointing Beth Rasbloch to the Urban Forest Commission (term 01/01/2025–12/31/2027) and Todd Herman to the Kenton County Planning Commission (01/01/2025–12/31/2028). The council also reappointed Mayor Jessica Fetti as the city’s representative to the Kenton County PDS Management Board (with Council Member Tyson Hermes as alternate) and to the Ohio‑Kentucky‑Indiana (OKI) Regional Council of Governments for one‑year terms beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
Voting: On the two ordinances the mayor called for roll‑call votes; the mayor announced "motion carried" for each measure following the recorded roll calls. No opposing votes were recorded on the audio of the meeting.
No amendments to either ordinance were offered during the meeting and no additional action was required after the votes.
