At its Sept. 3 meeting the Erlanger City Council approved several legislative items in addition to the medical-cannabis ordinance and the Lillian Rentals grant.
Tax-rate ordinance: The council adopted an ordinance setting assessment and tax-collection provisions for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2024, and continuing the Park Improvement Fund at 12% of real-estate tax revenue. The clerk conducted a roll-call vote and the motion carried.
Telecommunications franchise resolution: Council adopted a resolution to put a nonexclusive telecommunications franchise out for bid for up to a 20-year term and clarified the city will continue to receive allocations from the statewide telecommunications fund (rather than imposing a new 1.3% franchise fee). The city attorney said the current arrangement yields about $11,800 annually; Cincinnati Bell Territories LLC was noted as an expected bidder.
Tattoo/body art referral: Council approved a resolution to sponsor a text amendment so that Mark Collier can apply to Planning & Development and KCPC to allow tattoo or body art services as a conditional use in the Mixed Use Zone; that application will follow the usual PDS/KCPC review process.
These items carried on voice or roll-call votes as recorded in the meeting.
