He said delivery would likely take about three months and identified additional needs including roof antennas and a third workstation costing about $7,300. The court discussed grant conditions and approved proceeding with equipment purchases contingent on grant reimbursement.
Personnel changes followed. The court voted to move Shay Samuelson from part-time to full-time status after a motion was made and seconded. The discussion also included acceptance of the resignation of Andre Starks effective Oct. 4. Separately, the court voted to hire Cameron Bean as a dispatcher, starting at $17 an hour until she completes the academy; the motion carried with one recorded nay. Members stressed training time for part-time hires can extend to six to eight weeks and raised questions about retirement and benefit obligations for employees who work for multiple agencies.
A motion to authorize and sign the reimbursement agreement was approved by voice vote. Several members emphasized confirming project qualifications with the reimbursement board before submitting bills for payment.
The court’s actions leave the county positioned to pursue federal or state grant reimbursements for 911 consolidation, begin upgrading dispatch consoles pending delivery timelines, and bring additional dispatch staffing online.
