Carlisle County to dispatch for Ballard County under MOU; EMS reports new certifications

Carlisle County approved an interlocal agreement allowing county dispatch staff to cover 911 calls for Ballard County while Ballard is short staffed and while Ballard installs radio equipment, officials said.
Speaker 5 presented a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Carlisle and Ballard counties, saying Ballard has ordered two radios and spent about $13,000 on Carlisle's radio system and reimbursed Carlisle for coverage during recent short-staffing. Members discussed the arrangement and moved to authorize signing the MOU; the motion carried after the vote.
In a separate operations report, Speaker 3 updated the court on ambulance service items: a windshield replacement is scheduled for a new ambulance, protocols approved by the regional EMS board will require upcoming staff training, and the speaker reported completion of community paramedicine board certification for local staff. Speaker 3 said the community-paramedicine certification will allow staff to provide additional services to reduce hospital readmissions and that some opioid-abatement funds may be used for related initiatives.
Officials said they will follow up on implementation details for both the MOU and EMS training; no formal public objection to the MOU was recorded during the meeting.
