The Chippewa Valley Schools Board of Education on July 15 approved a slate of motions including the 2018 bond change-order summary report, multiple curriculum purchases and software renewals, and personnel promotions.
The board voted to approve the 2018 bond change-order summary for June 2024 after staff told trustees all amounts were within the project contingency and funding comes from the 2018 building site plan. The building and site subcommittee had reviewed the items and recommended fast-tracking them to the full board because July has only one regular meeting.
Trustees approved procurement items including a 12‑month Microsoft Windows and Office license renewal through CDWG for $69,250.05 (funded from the general fund); a 12‑month ClassLink single sign‑on renewal for $50,229.40; and instructional purchases including elementary math workbooks ($51,107.76), high‑school literature novels ($60,389.26), and a multi‑vendor textbook purchase totaling approximately $146,723. The board also approved a two‑year Explore Learning 'Gizmos' middle‑school science license with professional development for $60,460.28 and a one‑year Positivity Project elementary partnership for $37,950 (funding noted from student intervention or general fund lines as presented).
On personnel, the board approved promoting Allison Sadowski to elementary assistant principal with an effective start date of August 12, 2024.
The board approved a preliminary school loan revolving fund application and resolution needed to meet principal and interest payments on outstanding bonds and to levy 8.64 mills for debt retirement; the motion passed with one opposed vote.
Most motions passed by voice vote with 'motion carries' recorded in the meeting minutes. Where the board recorded dissenters on specific items, staff noted and the audio reflected a single opposed voice in a few roll calls.
What happens next: the district will implement the approved contracts and staff said they will return for any change orders that require additional pricing (for example, urinals at Ottawa when quotes are received).
