Committee outlines budget timeline, warns state valuation could shift town burdens

Speaker 4 warned that the state equalized valuation (for the calendar year 2024) can change the distribution of costs town by town and sometimes has a bigger effect on individual towns than the county's overall budget increase. "That change in valuation town by town... oftentimes can have as big or even bigger impact on what they get next year than our budget increase," Speaker 4 said.
The committee scheduled the next meeting for Jan. 21 and closed the session after a motion to adjourn passed without recorded opposition on the transcript.
