Glynn County dissolves three advisory boards, says attorney the changes don’t alter private‑property tree rules

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved ordinance amendments to repeal sections of the county code that created several advisory boards, dissolving the Autumn Hall Regional Park advisory committee, the Animal Control Advisory Board and the Tree Board.

County Attorney told commissioners this action was a follow‑up to a prior work session and said the boards in question had been inactive in some cases for several years. He clarified the change would not affect the county’s tree ordinance that governs trees on private property or the park board that operates Autumn Hall Regional Park. “So this is not to be confused with the tree ordinance, which addresses the rules that the board put in place for trees on private property,” the county attorney said.

Commissioners discussed staffing and arborist support; Public Works said it retains access to certified arborists through vendors and has staff pursuing arborist certification. Commissioners also noted that a future commission could reinstate any of these advisory boards if desired.

Next steps: the ordinance amendments take effect as adopted and staff will continue to provide tree and park services through existing county programs and contractors.
