Glynn County adds Glen Haven Park to parking ordinance after residents report blocked spaces

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 3 to amend section 2-11-9 of the Glynn County Code of Ordinances to address parking enforcement at county parks, adding Glen Haven Park to the locations covered.
Chief Ebner presented the proposed ordinance language asking that Glen Haven Park be included so county staff or law enforcement can restrict vehicles left unattended when their owners are not actively using the park unless expressly approved by the county manager (or designee) or the Glynn County police chief (or designee).
Commissioner Fendig said the amendment responded to repeated complaints from parents and others that the same vehicles were occupying paved and handicap spaces for extended periods — in many cases, workers parked close by and blocked park access. He said he had conducted random spot checks confirming the issue.
Fendig moved to adopt the ordinance amendment; a commissioner seconded the motion. The board voted unanimously in favor; Commissioner Booker was recorded as “Aye.” The amendment was adopted as requested by the chief.
The change gives staff and law enforcement a clearer enforcement mechanism to prevent private or nonpark uses from occupying park parking spaces and is intended to improve access for park visitors.
