At its Oct. 21 meeting, the Glynn County Board of Commissioners ratified several property-related actions following executive session. The board approved and ratified a purchase-and-sale agreement with JD3PC Property LLC for approximately 0.37 acres at 1901 and 1911 Union Street (parcel IDs 0102915 and 0102916) for a purchase price of $375,000, with funding to be provided by ARPA funds. The motion passed unanimously.
The board also adopted a resolution authorizing the exercise of eminent domain using the declaration-of-taking method to acquire multiple parcels and two construction easements for the Dungeness Drive Extension Road project; the motion passed unanimously. Later the board ratified a settlement in the county’s pending eminent domain action in civil action number CE24-00878. Under the settlement the county agreed to plant five live oak trees and to have $8,200 paid to the property owner by the court; the board voted to approve and dismiss the case.
County counsel had advised the board that pending and potential litigation and property acquisition warranted executive session; following that executive session commissioners approved the attorney’s recommendations and then ratified the transactions described above.
Next steps: county staff will proceed with acquisition paperwork and coordinate any property closings or easement recordings; project work on the Dungeness Drive Extension will follow standard right-of-way and construction procedures.
