Glynn County chief appraiser outlines schedule for 2025 digest, targets May 23 for assessment notices

Ron Glisson, chief appraiser with the Glynn County Property Appraisal Office, told the Board of Assessors that the office is aiming to issue assessment notices for the 2025 digest on May 23, 2025, with a subsequent 45-day appeal window.
Glisson said the office set December 19 as an official digest milestone and plans to present a prebuilt mobile-home digest at the next meeting. He told the board the department’s goal is to finish appeal season by Dec. 31, 2024, and to have growth entries into the system by the end of January to support the inflationary work.
"We generally will have requests that they have all the sales entered by January 31 so that we typically will start our inflationary work on February 1," Glisson said. He added the sales-ratio and inflationary work is expected to continue through April 25 to allow staff to prepare numbers for the printer of assessment notices.
Glisson said sales data entry by GIS staff is up to date and that the office hopes to produce a strong sales-ratio year. "As of now, everything looks good. We're on schedule and hope to have a good sales ratio year," he said.
The chief appraiser also said the office will present "before ratios" at the second meeting in January to lead into revaluation work and that the board will elect a chair at the first meeting of the year. He warned that field-season timing in previous years extended into March and disrupted inflationary work; the office is taking steps to avoid that delay.
The office’s timeline, as presented to the board, includes:
- Dec. 19: official digest item milestone and prebuilt mobile-home digest presentation at the next meeting - By Jan. 30–31: deadline for growth entries and sales-data entry - Feb. 1: start of inflationary sales-ratio work - Through Apr. 25: sales-ratio work and system shutdown to prepare assessment notices - May 23: target date for assessment notices, followed by a 45-day appeal window
Glisson credited staff and outside partners for progress, singling out Felicia Collins and GIS staff for their efforts. He said the office will monitor timing closely and may request additional staff resources if appraisers are needed to handle growth, appeals and inflationary work concurrently.
The board did not take a separate vote on the timeline; Glisson concluded the presentation by offering to answer questions and by noting the office will update the board as the schedule solidifies.
