Blaine County approves $1.5 million FY24 budget amendment for sheriff's office

The Blaine County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 5 approved a FY24 budget amendment for the sheriff's office totaling $1,500,817 to increase general fund revenue and expenditures.
Sheriff Neal Jupp attended the meeting and the board received a presentation on revenue sources and a plan to curtail future overtime to mitigate the expenditure increases. The amendment lists the following funding sources in the agenda presentation: $558,000 from FY24 state court fees; $114,000 from FY24 superior court fees; $355,000 from FY24 interest revenue; and $473,817 from FY24 realized investment gains.
Commissioner Booker moved to approve the amendment and Commissioner Clark seconded the motion; the chair called for a vote and the measure passed unanimously. The board recorded that repayment of the overage is planned through reductions in approved FY25 expenditures and anticipated increased state court revenue collections from the sheriff's office traffic unit, as presented at the Nov. 19 work session.
The board did not discuss additional amendments to the funding sources during the meeting. Sheriff Jupp was thanked by the chair and commissioners after the vote.
The amendment was approved and recorded; no additional scheduling or follow-up date for implementation was specified in the meeting record.
