Tempe Union honors SRO Amy Pfeiffer as Arizona School Resource Officer of the Year

The Tempe Union High School District recognized Officer Amy Pfeiffer as the 2024 Arizona School Resource Officer of the Year during the governing-board meeting, and district and law-enforcement leaders praised her work with students and staff.
Superintendent Dr. Wilson announced the selection and said the district would celebrate the award at the National School Resource Officers Association conference next week. The award, given by the Arizona School Resource Officers Association and named for Deputy Carrie Shannaman, recognizes SROs who demonstrate "selflessness, integrity, and commitment to the well-being of students and staff," Dr. Wilson said.
Steve Du, president of the Arizona School Resource Officer Association, described Pfeiffer's work as embodying "empathy and compassion every single day," and Officer Pfeiffer said of her work, "This is what I do. This is what I love." The board invited district and law-enforcement partners forward for recognition and requested a photo with the honoree.
The board and superintendent congratulated Officer Pfeiffer and noted she will receive the award at next week's national conference; the district said supporters from Tempe PD and school administration were present at the meeting.
