Randall County awards emulsions (asphalt) bid; staff cites roughly $100,000 annual savings

Road and Bridge staff described the bid tabulation and said Ergon's proposal was lower on several specified materials. Staff estimated county use at about 75,000 gallons annually and calculated the change would produce a savings "of a little over a hundred thousand dollars." Commissioners welcomed the lower prices; one commissioner observed it was the first reduction in some time since the COVID period and encouraged hope that the trend continues.
The court approved the award and authorized staff to execute the contract; the motion carried 5–0. Staff said Ergon's closest plant is in Lubbock and that delivery would come from several regional locations. The award is for a one-year term with two optional renewal periods; staff will return to the court for renewals as needed.
