Knott County Fiscal Court approves minutes and invoices, hears Bluegrass show update

The Knott County Fiscal Court met by special Zoom session on June 4, 2024, at 9:15 a.m., approving minutes from a May 31 special meeting and routine invoices, and hearing an announcement about a weekend Bluegrass show expected to bring visitors to the county.

The court’s clerk read roll call and noted attendees including Ricky Thomas, Kevin Walls, Jeff Dobson, Carl Craft, Seth Sloan and Kevin Jacobs before opening remarks and a prayer led by Carl Brown. The court then moved to procedural business, approving the minutes from the May 31, 2024 special call meeting after a motion recorded in the minutes as “Kraft makes a motion” and a verbal second; the record shows the vote as vocal “Aye.”

The clerk reviewed invoices included in the meeting packet, citing bills related to a Bluegrass show (held Sept. 1, as noted in the packet) and quarterly dispatch dues. The clerk stated in the record that the quarterly dispatch dues amounted to $30,000. A motion to approve the invoices was recorded as made by “Kraft” and seconded verbally; the court again voted “Aye” and the invoices were approved.

During the meeting the clerk promoted the upcoming Bluegrass show, saying the campground hookups and cabins were sold out but that primitive camping remained and that admission was $35. The clerk stated the event should draw a good crowd and bring people into the county and community.

Before closing, the court approved a motion to adjourn (recorded as moved by “Wallace”); an audible second and a vocal “Aye” concluded the session.
