Martin County court authorizes application for two senior transport vehicles, hears senior center report

The Martin County Fiscal Court voted to authorize completing an application and advertising to obtain funding for two vehicles to support senior citizens' transportation. Magistrate Kurt Howe introduced the item and the court approved the motion by voice vote.
Jennifer, a senior center representative, told the court the center currently offers curbside and in-house meals, exercise and nutrition activities, and outreach to remote areas. "We served over 30,000 last year," she said, describing daily averages of curbside and inside meals and noting that increased sign-ups help secure additional funding.
Howe said the court had provided roughly $50,000 to senior services earlier in the year and presented the group's quarterly payment during the meeting. The court encouraged residents aged 60 and older to register with the senior center to help increase future allocations.
No dollar amount for the two vehicles was specified in the meeting record; the court authorized staff to complete the application and to advertise as required.
