Magistrate Kurt Howe announced the appointment of Clyde Adams as Martin County's new emergency management director and flood control coordinator and asked the court to approve his salary. "Everyone knows, Clyde. He's been involved in the fire department for how many years now, Clyde? 37," Howe said. The court approved the salary by voice vote.
Howe also asked the court to approve Adams' emergency management coordinator bond, saying, "We can't have him out there working and not be bonded." The court voted to approve the bond. Howe then requested authorization to appoint Adams as the county's applicant agent for federal disaster funds (for example, FEMA claims), and the court approved that designation by voice vote.
Clyde Adams thanked the court for the employment opportunity and said he looks forward to working with the county. The transcript records that the salary is partially reimbursed by the state for the emergency management portion of the post; the record does not specify the salary amount or the portion reimbursed.
The court directed administrative staff to finalize paperwork for salary, bond, and federal applicant-agent designation; the judge was authorized to complete related formalities.
