Plaquemines Parish Council removes tourism commission member after complaint; nominations advance

The resolution inserted language noting "serious credible complaint of improper conduct towards staff members of the Plaquemines Parish Tourism Commission, including profanity and demeaning language against Donald Veil, Seat 4." The resolution states that, in response to the complaint, "Donald Veil is hereby removed from Seat 4 on the Plaquemines Parish Tourist Commission for cause related to the complaint," and that the seat is declared vacant until the council appoints a replacement.
Council member Jurisic, who offered the changes, said the decision followed a miscommunication at a prior meeting, and he described the conduct as inappropriate for a member who represents the parish. The council recorded a floor vote of 7 yes to 0 no with two abstentions from Council members Cognovich and Lafrance.
The resolution also included names to fill other seats (for example, Bridget Stock Still for seat 5 and Malcolm Lincoln Jr. for seat 7) as nominations that will be confirmed by the council.
Next steps: The seat will remain vacant until the council appoints a replacement; the council directed administration to proceed with needed cooperative endeavor agreement amendments and appointments in subsequent actions.
