Summary

At its Nov. 14 meeting, the Plaquemines Port Harbor and Terminal District acted on several governance and routine agenda items.
Elections: The council elected Commissioner Chris Schultz as chairperson for 2025; Commissioner Newsom was elected vice chair. Both elections were uncontested in the recorded proceedings and each passed 8–0.
Regional cooperation: The council approved a resolution directing the executive director to amend the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) between the port and the Regional Transit Authority, with commissioners saying the measure strengthens regional ferry cooperation; the resolution passed 8–0.
Rebranding: The council authorized phase 2 of the port’s rebranding campaign to be facilitated by Palmer Advertising. Staff said phase 2 covers public relations, advertising placements, graphic design, social media and a second community survey and confirmed funding for that phase was already in the budget. The measure passed 8–0.
Other routine items: The council introduced an ordinance requesting the Plaquemines Parish Civil Service Commission relinquish human resources functions to the port’s HR office and introduced resolutions to provide employee group coverages (health, dental, vision and life) and to insure port assets and rescue boats for the 2025 policy year. The council also set a revised date for its second regularly scheduled January 2025 meeting. Several items were deferred as noted in the agenda.
Outcome: Most governance and routine items were approved unanimously; the more substantive, debated contract (GLO Resources) was handled separately and recorded as passing 6–2.
