The Plaquemines Parish Council voted Nov. 14 to extend a state of emergency tied to a saltwater wedge intrusion first declared in August. That resolution keeps the emergency authority in place while expressly removing an August amendment that prohibited issuing new temporary or permanent RV park permits.
Chair and legal staff explained that the measure extends emergency authority but eliminates the specific moratorium provision so that RV permit applications could be considered under normal permit rules. Councilmembers asked for clarity and called for plain language in digests so residents are not confused about the measure’s effect.
The resolution passed by roll call, 7–1; Doctor Gooey cast the lone no vote. Because the amended duplicate (which would have left the RV restriction in place) was identical except for the retained amendment, it was withdrawn after the vote.
