The Nicholasville City Commission on Dec. 9 authorized the mayor to sign memoranda of agreement to purchase 10 easements needed for a 24-inch water main project connecting the water plant through Country Subdivision to an existing 24-inch line.
Staff (Bob) enumerated the easements and amounts, including payments ranging from $1,000 to $13,898 for specific parcels (examples cited during the meeting: 316 Back 40 Pike — $2,289.60; 1508 Logan Lane — $13,898; 312 Back 40 Pike — $8,704.60). The city expects to fund the work with a $2,000,000 cleaner-water grant and a Kentucky Infrastructure Authority loan for the remainder; easement totals include compensation for property damage to driveways, trees and fences and include both permanent and temporary easements.
Staff said acquisition of the easements allows the city to finalize construction plans and proceed with the project; council moved, seconded and approved the authorization by roll-call vote.
