Fresno State center asks Parlier to host free entrepreneur workshops

Anna Faro, director of the Central Valley Women's Entrepreneur Center at Fresno State, asked the Parlier City Council on July 18 to allow the center to hold onsite workshops and office hours so local entrepreneurs need not travel to Fresno for help.
The center, which is part of Fresno State’s Office of Community and Economic Development and partners with the U.S. Small Business Administration, provides free counseling, training and technical assistance in English and Spanish. Faro told the council the program covers 11 Central Valley counties and offered to leave flyers for residents.
"We would like to serve them locally," Faro said, offering one‑on‑one counseling and assistance with business registration, government contracting and access to capital. Mayor (name not specified) and staff asked Faro to coordinate with Berta in city administration to schedule an in‑city workshop and to provide flyers for the city’s water‑billing office.
The request was received during the public‑comment portion; the council did not take formal action at the meeting. Staff agreed to follow up with Faro about dates, venue availability and promotion so the program can be scheduled in Parlier.
