Butte County approves resolution to apply for California's pro‑housing designation

Director Paula Danilak said the designation gives local projects extra points in the state's new housing grant scoring and that the county was fortunate to already meet many of the state's criteria. She highlighted other housing steps, including the availability of free small‑residential/ADU plans, a payment plan for phased building permit payments to help rebuilders and a barrier‑removal grant targeted at high‑fire‑risk foothill communities to help people rebuild.
Supervisors praised staff work and discussed the challenge of fire insurance in wildland‑urban interface areas as a barrier to rebuilding. There was no public comment on this item; the board voted to approve the resolution and instructed staff to remain available for questions at a later timed item.
Next steps: staff will file the resolution as part of the application package and coordinate with nonprofit housing providers and developers to leverage the designation during grant applications.
