The Historic Sites Review and Preservation Commission held elections for its officers and approved administrative items. Jacob Holly was nominated and accepted the position of chair; following a voice vote he said, "I guess I'm chair, chairman of this committee again, so 1 more year here." Janetta Phillips was nominated and elected vice chair and Rich Westfall was nominated and elected secretary; the votes were recorded by voice as all in favor.
Staff provided a records-preservation update: the commission learned inventory work is ongoing, the office has temporarily moved out of the downstairs space for approximately three weeks, and staff has not yet received a response from Vince regarding the National Park Service (NPS) digitization project. Staff said they will follow up with Vince and report progress at the next meeting.
On the Gold Rush design-review item — tied to a National Endowment for the Arts grant — the commission selected members for an ad hoc committee to advise on creative placement and review guidelines. Commissioners expressed interest in including a Native American representative, named probable members and agreed to target early-February meeting dates for the ad hoc despite potential meeting-space constraints from the building move.
No formal ordinances, resolutions, or contract awards were voted on at this session. The commission closed with reminders about reapplication forms for commissioners whose terms are expiring and adjourned the meeting.
